The Skype app for Windows Phone finally grew up today and broke out of its “Beta” shell and graduated to Version 1.0. As of today you can now head on over to the Windows Phone Store and download Skype for your Windows Phone.

The free download is available for all Windows Phone 7.5 or higher phones and will work over both Wi-Fi and 3G. Skype was originally available as a Beta app on the store since last February, so just under two months later it’s hit Version 1.0.

Version 1.0 now adds the ability to search for and add new contacts as well as the ability to call landlines.

However there is still one major draw back to this app. For some reason or another, there is no support for background calling with the app. In other words, the only way you can receive a call is if you have the app open and running, you can’t let it run in the background and receive calls that way as you can on the iPhone and Android devices which is rather disappointing.
